Eco Friendly Products

Eco-Friendly products that we offer at Van Life Gear Company

Bamboo Utensils (ditch the plastic utensils)

Made from sustainable bamboo. Throw one or two of these in with your gear and you'll never need to use a plastic fork or spoon again. Includes a fork, spoon, knife.  The whole thing rolls up with its carrying case, keeping your utensils clean and organized.

Wheat Straw Bowls and Plates (Plastic Free)

What is Wheat Straw Plastic?

Wheat straw plastic contains no plastic at all.  Wheat straw products are made from what is left over after wheat is harvested for food products.  Which makes it a great zero waste product.  No additional farming is required for farmers to produce wheat straw.  There is need for farmers to burn the wheat straw for waste control, avoiding extra CO2 gases.   The waste is now being used to produce an alternative for plastic products.  These products are perfect for Van Life camping.  They are durable, stack nicely, and store easily.  We at Van Life Gear Company are real excited that we found this product.  We have been using them on our trips and even use them at home.  Plastic sucks and now we can use it less with wheat straw plastic options.

Nomadix Towels/Blankets/Ponchos (Made From recycled plastic bottles)

All of the Nomadix gear is made from recycled plastic bottles.  30 plastic bottles is equal to 1 towel.  The fabric is printed never dyed.  Plus, Nomadix is doing a bunch of other cool stuff for the planet.  One of their big partnerships is 1% for the Planet, which commits them to donating 1% of their sales — not just profits — to environmental causes.  And from personal use, these towels are high quality.  They are going to last a long time, which means less waste.

Trek Light Gear Blankets (Made from excess clothing materials)

We here at Van Life Gear Company were super excited when we found these Trek Light Gear blankets. Not only are they hip and functional but they are also made by a company with a mission to do good.

Every blanket is made from excess clothing materials. The high-quality scraps are first shredded into a pulp then repurposed into yarn. This keeps things out of the landfill and creates less waste for our planet.

Every blanket is handwoven in Mexico on a traditional wooden pedal loom by Indigenous artisans, continuing a long tradition of craftsmanship and creativity. Because the best things aren’t made in factories the artisans are able to continue the tradition of home weaving, allowing them to determine their own hours and workload.

All that being said, we are always on the lookout to be more environmentally conscious.  If you know of any products out there you would like to see us carry, contact us.  Safe Travels - Jon
